Playson is a rapidly developing game development company based on the Mediterranean island of Malta. Its headquarters are situated in Sliema, a small town situated just across the harbour from the island’s capital, Valetta.
Founded in 2012, the company is responsible for the employment of around two hundred people. The majority of its workforce is based in Ukraine, where the company’s main game development studio is located.
Playson is best known for its quality online slots, but it does produce other games too. It does have some traditional table games in its portfolio, and it also designs social games for online play.
What to Expect from Playson Slots
At the time of writing, there are around sixty slots in the Playson range, but the company are a relatively prolific producer of new titles, so expect this number to rise rapidly. The hard working designers have created games which cover all of the favourite slot themes, but one particular genre stands out as a Playson specialism. They do love their fruity themes.
In fact, if you include a broader definition including any design based on traditional fruit machine symbols (including characters like the number 7, BAR and Bell), then you could say that more than half of their output falls into this category. So if you’re a fan of the traditional ‘one armed bandit’ style of game, or like a touch of nostalgia with your spins, then Playson games may well be worth looking out for.
Working through all these games would make a very long list. Indeed, some are much the same design, but with different winning mechanisms (different numbers of winning lines for example). So how about trying Fruit Xtreme, Imperial Fruits or Fruits ‘n’ Stars and leaving it at that?
Even when the company introduces an alternative theme, they often manage to cram some fruitiness in there somehow. Hence you can find plenty of mash ups (or should that be fruit cocktails?) such as Fruits & Jokers, Fruits & Clovers and Red Chilli Wins.
But if you look beyond the citrus fixation, there are plenty of other themes to enjoy. Clover Riches is good for fans of the Lucky Irish genre, while Book of Gold, Legend of Cleopatra and Kingdom of the Sun are impressive additions to the ever popular Egyptology range of games.
There are some great light hearted games too. These include the animated mayhem of Lucky Pirates and Dracula’s Family. In Playson’s creation, the dark side of the legendary bloodthirsty Count is replaced by a more playful theme. The backdrop is much as you would expect – a well-designed candle lit spooky castle, but the focus is on Dracula’s hapless family. The game is played out to a comedy sountrack which is more reminiscent of the Munsters or the Addams Family than a Hammer Horror classic.
Other excellent slots in the Playson cannon include Buffalo Power, Chicago Gangsters, Rome: Caesar’s Glory and the enchanting Pearl Beauty. This beautiful Asian theme features traditional symbols with a relaxing atmospheric soundtrack to soothe you as the reels spin.
On the traditional side of the casino, Playson also have a trio of Blackjack and Roulette formats to keep table game fans entertained.
Playson has expanded rapidly from its humble beginnings as a small but ambitious game development studio. Within a decade, it has developed into an international company, with fans of its games spread all over the globe. Online casino operators all around the world are keen to licence Playson games for their players. Many UK registered casinos have succeeded in this quest, so look out for their games at your chosen boku casino.
