Pragmatic Play is a quality gaming software company with a very wide repertoire of games in their locker. Founded in 2015, the company is relatively new to the industry, but it has managed to forge a formidable reputation in its barely half a decade of existence.
The company is a truly international business, with employees based all around the world. It has administrative offices on the UK overseas territory of Gibraltar and on the Mediterranean island of Malta, but most of the game development and software design takes place elsewhere. Such locations include Bucharest in Romania, Kiev in Ukraine and in Hyderabad and on the outskirts of Delhi in India. Additional marketing and development offices can be found in London, Manila and several further worldwide locations.
From this global dispersion, you can tell that this is no small scale outfit, and it is in fact responsible for the employment of close to five hundred people across the globe. The majority are located in south-eastern Europe.
Despite its relatively short lifetime, the company can boast a very impressive portfolio of games. It has a prolific rate of development, so that in barely half a decade of production, there are already well over a hundred titles in its range.
The majority of these are slots, and they already have a number of extremely popular classics to their name. These include such player favourites as Chilli Heat, Great Rhino, Panda’s Fortune and Wolf Gold. All the main genres are well covered. Pharaonic favourites include Ancient Egypt, Egyptian Fortunes and Queen of Gold. Irish Luck themed titles include Irish Charms and Leprechaun Song.
In truth however, Pragmatic Play is renowned for more than just the old genre standards. Its innovative designers like to push the boundaries with some less obvious themes, such as Release the Kraken, a monster of the deep title with some interesting random features, and The Great Chicken Escape, which bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain similarly themed Aardman / Dreamworks animated movie.
But perhaps the area where the Pragmatic Play software designers’ talent really shows through is in their genre mash-ups. The company is renowned for such innovative pairings as The Catfather Part II, which manages to turn a cuddly cat into a Mafia mobster. Vampires Vs Wolves is another entertaining example. But perhaps the prime exhibit in their hall of fame is the company’s own pastiche of the Indiana Jones franchise. In Pragmatic Play land, their hero is called John Hunter, and our intrepid explorer can be found in a variety of sticky situations of his own. These include John Hunter and the Aztec Treasure; John Hunter and the Book of Tut, plus here he is again exploring the Tomb of the Scarab Queen.
It’s all top quality entertainment, but there is far more to this company than just its slot designs. All the main traditional casino formats are also covered, with table games like Baccarat, Blackjack, Keno, Poker and Roulette all available in standard video formats. There is a small selection of around half a dozen scratch cards too, themed around some of the company’s classic slot titles.
Many online casinos are now also offering Bingo to their players, and Pragmatic Play is aboard this wave too. Just about all the commonly seen formats of the game are covered: 90, 80, 75, 50 and 30 ball versions of the game are on offer, some in a variety of different forms.
Finally, in the most recent expansion in the company’s play book, comes their new Live Gaming range. April 2019 saw the company open its new live studio in Bucharest, initially offering up to 43 different tables of live dealer action. Games are streamed live using the latest camera technology and software and the very best live dealers in the business. It certainly does look like a really smooth operation. The quality of the game experience is well up to the standard of its longer established rivals.
Formats on offer include Blackjack and Roulette. Poker is not available at the time of writing, but a studio expansion is already being planned, so we may not have long to wait.
You can already play Pragmatic Play games on well over a hundred different online casinos licenced for the UK market. This number is growing all the time as more and more casino operators recognise the quality and variety of the company’s output. With hundreds of talented software designers based all over the globe and a prolific output of new titles, the company is assured of a bright future.
Pragmatic Play is licenced via the Malta Gaming Authority. It is also fully regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.
